Race 3

Decision: --

Information 6542 alleged a breach of Rule 871(1)(d) by apprentice jockey C Parish, rider of DANSKY, for shifting inwards when not sufficiently clear of PASADENA KID (T Russell) who was badly tightened and lost ground.

--

DECISION & REASON:

--

Information 6542 alleged a breach of Rule 871(1)(d) by apprentice jockey C Parish, rider of DANSKY, for shifting inwards when not sufficiently clear of PASADENA KID (T Russell) who was badly tightened and lost ground.

--

The breach was admitted and Mr Parish was represented by his employer, Mr A Jones.

--

The incident was demonstrated on video by Assistant Stipendiary Steward, T Treweek, who pointed out each of the riders shortly after the start as Mr Parish commenced an inward movement as he improved outside PASADENA KID. He observed the tightening which occurred when Mr Parish was only about half a length ahead and the resulting loss of ground by PASADENA KID. It was, he thought, an error of judgement on the part of Mr Parish.

--

Mr McCutcheon confirmed the prior record of Mr Parish with two suspensions over the last twelve months, one in December and the other in May, each involving three days. In all the circumstances he believed a suspension had to be imposed.

--

The Committee after taking into account the record, admission of the breach and all the circumstances outlined above, and after noting that Mr Parish would be riding only in the Auckland and Waikato area, ordered a suspension to take effect from the conclusion of racing on 11 March 2006, until the conclusion of racing on 22 March 2006. The meetings affected were Matamata, Te Rapa and Pukekohe.
