Decision: --
Information 5236 alleged a breach of Rule 871(1)(d) for careless riding by jockey B Sargent
--
DECISION & REASON:
--Information 5236 alleged a breach of Rule 871(1)(d) for careless riding by jockey B Sargent, the rider of JACK FROST, in that he allowed his mount to shift in when not the required distance clear and caused interference to HOT ELLE ridden by C Johnson.
--The breach was admitted.
--Mr Oatham demonstrated the incident on video. Mr Sargent confirmed he was not aware that Mr Johnson was there and he had only moved two horse widths.
--Mr Coles agreed that Mr Sargent had been riding since October last year and had not committed any breach since then. He nevertheless had been very honest and fair in admitting the breach, but in any event it was at the lower end of the scale although a suspension was sought.
--Taking all this into account the Committee ordered a suspension of three days from the conclusion of racing on 11 February until the conclusion of racing at Avondale on 22 February 2006.
