Following race 2 an information was lodged pursuant to Rule 871(1)(d) when it was alleged that Mr K C Walters permitted his mount I ROBOT to shift inwards shortly after the start when not sufficiently clear of ALBCHENO (T Thornton) which was checked.

Mr Walters, who was represented by Mr L Noble admitted the charge.

Mr J Oatham showed the video film where, soon after the start of the race Mr Walters, riding I ROBOT and had drawn 3 at the barrier, move over to be 2 horses off the rail. In doing so he took the line of ALBERCHENO, who had drawn 2 at the barrier, and Ms Thornton had to check her mount.

Mr Noble thought that Mr Walters may have been misled by the initial inward movement ALBERCHENO had made.

As Mr Walters had admitted the charge the committee has to adjudicate on penalty only.

Mr Coles said that Mr Walters had limited riding experience but said that a suspension was justified and asked for one in the vicinity of 4 days.

Mr Walters had nothing to add.

After due consideration the committee suspends Mr Walters from race riding from the conclusion of racing on 28 December till the conclusion of racing on 6 January 2009. (4 days)
