Following Race 1 an information was lodged pursuant to Rule 871(1)(d)when it was alleged that Miss D Johnson, being the rider of HOTSPURS permitted her mount to shift outwards when not sufficiently clear of ALA MOANA (S Spratt) who was checked.

Miss Johnson, who admitted the charge, was represented by Mr R Cameron.

Mr George Demonstrated the video films and showed where, at the 200 metre mark Miss Johnson’s mount HOTSPURS move in quite sharply. Miss Johnson stopped riding and corrected her mount. She then allowed her mount to move out into the line of ALA MOANA ( S Spratt) when not sufficiently clear. This time she kept riding her mount forward.

Mr George produced Miss Johnson’s record which showed two charges in the last six months. He believed that a suspension of 4 days was appropriate.

The committee considered all submissions and took into account Miss Johnson’s guilty plea, her record, and the degree of careless ness. It was pointed out to herm that she had been warned when the horse first moved in but she continued to ride her mount forward when her mount moved out when not sufficiently clear.

Accordingly we impose a suspension start after racing on 2 January and conclude after racing on 6 January 2008.
