Mr Lammas admitted the charge that he breached Rule 530(2)(b) in that he struck his mount SANITEE with the whip in an improper manner prior to the start of Race 7.
| -- DECISION AND REASON --Mr Lammas admitted the charge that he breached Rule 530(2)(b) in that he struck his mount SANITEE with the whip in an improper manner prior to the start of Race 7. --Mr Oatham demonstrated the video, which showed the difficulty that the starting staff was having in getting the horse SANITEE into the stalls. Mr Lammas was seen to be urging his mount to the best of his endeavours, however, he was seen on several occasions to hit the horse on the head with the butt end of his whip. He was observed to be holding the whip at less than half-length. --While the Committee accepts that this practice is unacceptable we do believe, from our observations, that these hits were not struck with malice, but more with an urging motion to help the assistants in their endeavours to get the horse into the stall. --PENALTY: --After taking all submissions into account, and to maintain consistency, a fine of $300 was imposed. --
