Decision:

An Information was lodged following race 11 against Horsewoman Miss N CHILCOTT driver of TOMADO ISL                 AND alleging she used the whip unnecessarily when she hit the horse after the finishing post and continuing into the                   back straight.

--

An Information was lodged following race 11 against Horsewoman Miss N CHILCOTT driver of TOMADO ISLAND alleging she used the whip unnecessarily when she hit the horse after the finishing post and continuing into the back straight.

--

--

Miss Chilcott appeared for the hearing and admitted the charge.

--

--

Mr TAUMANU gave evidence of his view of the concluding stages particularly after the finish line where he saw Miss Chilcott striking the Horse a number of times.  The Stipendiary Steward was obviously concerned because it was unnecessary and did not enhance the reputation of the industry.  It was obvious to Mr TAUMANU that she had ‘lost the plot’

--

--

Mr TAUMANU sought a fine of $500 and brought to the tribunals attention a recent fine for the same offence by Miss Chilcott

--

--

Miss Chilcott said the previous offence was for a totally different set of circumstances and admitted that she had got angry with TOMADO ISLAND and had never done anything like this before.

--

--

Following submissions and taking into account all matters raised including her cooperation with the enquiry Miss Chilcott is fined $400.00.  This conduct is completely unacceptable in a professional industry that relies on public support and goodwill for its existence.
