The information alleges that P Taylor angled his mount THRUTHEROOF outward near the 250 metre mark when not clear of MOLLY DOOKER causing that horse to clip a heal and blunder.
----
Mr Taylor was present at the hearing and did admit the breach. The rule was read and Mr Taylor acknowledged he understood same.
----
Mr Goodwin showed the Committee films both side on and rear view of the alleged incident and these clearly showed Mr Taylor’s mount move off the fence when not the required distance clear, causing MOLLY DOOKER S. Spratt to clip a heal and blunder.
----
Mr Taylor when asked did not wish to give his interpretation of the films nor did he have any questions of Mr Goodwin.
----
Mr Goodwin gave the Committee Mr Taylor’s record which he stressed was very good. Mr Taylor did have a charge on the 1/1/09 but prior to that it was some 2 years since he had been charged under this rule.
----
He (Mr Goodwin) did feel however the breach was not minor and warranted a term of suspension.
----
For his part Mr Taylor felt he had moved out quietly but did acknowledge it did not look good and did warrant a term of suspension.
----
Prior to arriving at a penalty the Committee took into account Mr Taylor’s admission at the breach and his good record, these factors however were outweighed by the fact the incident was not of a minor nature, he is a senior rider and safety is paramount.
----
Mr Taylor may ride until the conclusion of racing on the 20/2/09 and is then suspended until the conclusion of racing on the 28/2/09 in effect 6 days.
