----Ms L. Tunnell, rider of DENIS in the John Griffith & Co Livestock Highweight, admitted a charge of excessive use of the whip under rule 530(2)(b).
----Shortly after the field turned in Ms Tunnell drew the whip and struck her mount 13 times without relief, paused for 6 strides then followed up with 8 consecutive strikes prior to the 200 metre point.
----Mr Goodwin, Stipendiary Steward advised that Ms Tunnell was suspended for excessive use of the whip in July 2005. He believed a suspension was called for on this occasion.
----Ms Tunnell submitted that the longer straight at Trentham caught her unawares in relation to the 200 metre mark.
----The Committee noted Ms Tunnell's previous such breach and believes the use of the whip on DENIS was of a degree to command a suspension. In setting the term we have given Ms Tunnell credit for her frank admission of the matter. She is suspended from the close of racing on 4 March 2006 until the close of racing on 18 March 2006.
