An information instigating a protest lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr T Taumanu against BARN DANCE BETTY, driven by Mr P Ferguson, placed 4th by the Judge, on the grounds that it raced inside the track marker line for about 70 metres in the last 600 metres of the race. Ms M Wallis, trainer, and Mr Ferguson represented the connections of the horse. They did not contest the protest.
--Mr Taumanu demonstrated the incident by use of the video film. About 400 metres from the finish of the race, BARN DANCE BETTY hung in on the bend and the inside sulky wheel went inside the marker pegs for about 70 metres. The breach was not caused by interference by another horse or horseman.
--In these circumstances, the rule requires that the offending horse be disqualified. Accordingly I disqualified BARN DANCE BETTY, the amended placings then being :

--3rd MISS ABIGAIL
--4th DOCTOR MCCOOL
--5th OK MILES
