The information alleges that Mr R Stam the rider of ADARKHORSE allowed his mount to shift inwards causing SERENCANA and APPLETONS LASS to check near the 1200 metre mark.

--

--

Mr Stam was present at the hearing and did admit the breach.

--

--

The rule was read and Mr Stam acknowledged he understood same.

--

--

Mr Goodwin showed the Committee the films of the alleged incident both head-on and side-on both of which showed Mr Stam on an inward movement causing severe buffeting to both APPLETONS LASS and SERECANA which in turn also effected H Tinsley’s mount PETE THE PIRATE.

--

--

Mr Stam when given the opportunity did not want to ask any questions of Mr Goodwin nor did he wish to give his interpretation of the films.

--

--

The Committee asked for Mr Stam’s record which showed the last charge under this rule was 18.8.07 at Otaki where he received a 5 day suspension.

--

--

Mr Stam acknowledged his record as given to the Committee was correct.

--

--

Mr Stam’s only immediate riding commitments were at Manawatu the following day i.e. 11.4.08, he did not wish to make any submissions as to penalty.

--

--

When arriving at a penalty the Committee took into account Mr Stam’s admission of the breach and the fact he did not get a lot of rides, however his allowing of his mount to shift inwards did effect 3 horses and a term of suspensions was thought to be appropriate.

--

--

Mr Stam’s suspension will start at the conclusion of racing on the 11.4.08 and end at the conclusion of racing on the 27.4.08 in effect 6 days.
