Following Race 6 Stipendiary Steward Mr P Knowles filed a protest against horse number 10 WAIHEMO CULLEN, driven by Mr C Hanna, placed third by the judge.

DECISION & REASON
--Following Race 6 Stipendiary Steward Mr P Knowles filed a protest against horse number 10 WAIHEMO CULLEN, driven by Mr C Hanna, placed third by the judge.
--Stipendiary Steward Mr Allison began proceedings by using head-on and trackside videos to illustrate the alleged incidents. Mr Hanna, driver of WAIHEMO CULLEN, also used video and explained that his horse had indeed moved out, that he had corrected the horse and that it then still moved outwards a little - making contact with LADY WRITER, driven by Mr Armour.
--Mr Faulks, trainer reported much the same story as evidence.
--Mr Armour, driver of LADY WRITER also used video, stating that Mr Hanna should be given credit for straightening his horse, that he had called out, and that in his opinion the contact cost his horse significantly and that his horse was going as well as the other, and that he felt that he might have been able to finish third.

My decision was to dismiss the protest. Judge's placings to stand :
--1st 11
--2nd 13
--3rd 10
--4th 7
--5th 3
--Whilst I felt that there was some interference and contact in the straight, I felt that this did not constitute enough to change the placings, by relegating horse no. 10 behind horse no. 5 which finished 7th.
