--An information, (353) was lodged by Stipendiary Steward J Oatham under Rule 330 (3) (c) alleging that senior jockey J Bates failed to make the weight for Texas in Race 2, The Invercargill Licensing Trust Handicap. Mr Bates admitted the breach. Mr Oatham (Stipendiary Steward) stated that Mr Bates had informed him of the situation on course on the day of the meeting that he was unable to make the weight.
--Mr Bates informed the Committee that he was careful with his weight but on this occasion he had made an error of judgement.
--Mr Oatham stated that Mr Bates had been previously charged under that same rule on the 16/10/09 at the Otago Racing Club meeting and was fined the sum of $100.00.
--The Committee was satisfied a breach of the rule had occurred and fined Mr Bates the sum of $150.00 and reminded Mr Bates of his professional obligations.
