| -- DECISION & REASON: --Following race one an information was filed pursuant to Rule 871(1)(d) when it was alleged by the informant, Mr Oatham, that Mrs Thornton shifted inwards after the start on SAND GATE when not the required distance clear. This resulted in RUBY?S COMMAND ridden by C Anderson receiving quite a sharp check. ----Mrs Thornton pleaded guilty. ----Mr Robinson demonstrated the video films which showed Mrs Thornton come across quickly after the start which clearly showed she was not the required distance clear of Miss Anderson on her inside. ----PENALTY: --Mr Oatham believed that as Miss Anderson did suffer quite severe interference the charge warranted a suspension. He produced Mrs Thornton's record which was a good one with her last charge being on 20.03.04. ----Mrs Thornton said she would leave it to the Committee to decide. The Committee considered all submissions and in imposing a penalty took into account Mrs Thornton's guilty plea and good record. However, we believe a suspension is the correct penalty and accordingly suspend Mrs Thornton from the conclusion of racing on 25 November until after the conclusion of racing on 2 December (3 days). ------ -- -- R Seabrook D Johnstone --CHAIRMAN ------ RACEDAY JUDICIAL COMMITTEE DECISION ---- Meeting: Cambridge Jockey Club (Inc.) Date: 21.11.04 --DECISION & REASON: --Following race one an information was filed pursuant to Rule 871(1)(d) when it was alleged by the informant, Mr J P Oatham, that Mrs T Thornton rider of SAND GATE angled outwards on her mount when not the required distance clear of STELLATHESTAR (R Norvall) in the final straight. ----As Mrs Thornton admitted the charge we were only required to fix the penalty. ----PENALTY: --Mr Oatham demonstrated the films which clearly showed the accepted interference caused by the outward movement of SAND GATE when not sufficiently clear of STELLATHESTAR. Mr Oatham asked that a suspension be given by way of penalty. ----In admitting the error that she had made Mrs Thornton did say that it was SAND GATE?S first start and he was a little green. ----The Committee in coming to its decision took into account Mrs Thornton's guilty plea and her riding record and accordingly suspended her from riding from the conclusion of racing on 2 December until the conclusion of racing on 9 December (3 days). ------ -- -- --
