Mr. Cameron used the head and side-on films to identify the horses involved and outline the incident that he was concerned about. He said that while he was attempting to move into a gap on the inside of Madam Corporate at about the 250 meter mark the rider of that horse struck his mount over the head and face two or three times. This action caused Tiffany Case to sky her head and consequently slow however Mr. Cameron did say that she wasn’t traveling that well.

Mr. Collins said that while he could see on the film where he had struck Tiffany Case across the head he believed that the horse down on the rail had contributed to the interference by moving outwards at about the same time.

Mr. Neal, giving the Stipendiary Stewards interpretation of the incident, said that Mr. Cameron’s mount had been impeded for a short distance as he tried to go through the gap. He also acknowledged that there had been a slight movement outwards by the horse racing on the rails.

Rule 876 (1) states:
----
If a placed horse or its Rider causes interference within the meaning of this Rule 876 to another placed horse, and the Judicial Committee is of the opinion that the horse interfered with would have finished ahead of the first mentioned horse had such interference not occurred, they may place the first mentioned horse immediately after the horse interfered with.
----
After listening to all the evidence and viewing the films the committee accepts that Tiffany Case was struck over the head on at least two occasions by the whip of Mr. Collins while attempting a run on his inside.

The committee has to be sure that had this not happened then Tiffany Case would have finished ahead of Madame Corporate. The head on film clearly shows Tiffany Case raise her head up and away from the other horse as the whip struck her which did impede her progress through the gap for a short time.
--Taking into account the distance from the finish that the incident occurred, the manner in which both horse were traveling and the margin between them at the finish the committee had some doubt that Tiffany Case would have finished ahead of Madame Corporate. The protest was therefore dismissed and placings allowed to stand as called by the judge.
