Under rule 869 (2) (a): An information was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr P Knowles against Mr A L Stratford, driver of TELLMESOMETHINGOOD, for excessive use of a whip. Mr Knowles used video film to illustrate the incident. He pointed out that Mr Stratford had used the whip approximately 22 times from just prior to the straight entrance. Mr Stratford, in admitting the charge, stated that it was his intention to gain the best placing for the owners. He felt that he had an opportunity to gain third placing. Prior to assessing penalty, Mr Knowles indicated that Mr Stratford had a clear record over the past 12 months and suggested a monetary penalty of $200.00. DECISION: The committee agreed and took into account Mr Stratford's record guilty plea, imposing a fine of $200.00. A Dennis Chairman
