Decision: -- Under rule 869 (2) (a): An information was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr P T Knowles against Horseman Mr T Robertson, driver of SUPERIOR CAM, alleging that Mr Robertson used his whip in an excessive and unnecessary manner over the concluding 500 metres of the race Under rule 869 (2) (a): An information was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr P T Knowles against Horseman Mr T Robertson, driver of SUPERIOR CAM, alleging that Mr Robertson used his whip in an excessive and unnecessary manner over the concluding 500 metres of the race. Mr Robertson admitted the breach. Mr Knowles showed several video clips of the alleged incident, highlighting in his opinion the excessive use of up to twenty three strikes of the whip and it's unnecessary use. Mr Knowles stated that SUPERIOR CAM was well tried entering the home straight and was not improving under Mr Robertson's urgings. Mr Robertson apologised to the Judicial Committee and Stipendiary Stewards, stating he had made an error of judgement and one that he regretted. PENALTY: In fixing penalty, consideration was given to the guilty plea and the obvious remorse Mr Robertson had shown. Mr Robertson had no other charges under this rule in the past twelve months. Mr Robertson was fined the sum of $400.00 and reminded of his obligations, particularly around the unnecessary aspect of the rule. Nigel Skelt Chairman
