Mr Ching, stipendiary steward, alleged a breach of rule 508(2) and (5) in that J & K Parsons failed to declare a rider for QUERELLA in race 5 by the required time. They admitted the breach and indicated they did not wish to be present at the hearing.

Mr Ching stated that the trainers had said by way of explanation that they were considering going to Wellington and had only come to Gore as the track at Trentham was too wet. A rider was finally nominated, some 24 hours late.

The Parsons have no previous breach of this Rule. We are aware the “standard fine” is $50 and this is the amount that Mr Ching has recommended. We impose a fine of $50.
