Decision: Mr Davidson, stipendiary steward, alleged a breach of rule 508(2) and (5) in that Mr Beckett failed to declare a rider for BAD ALI THE WITCH in race 6 by the required time.
Mr Davidson, stipendiary steward, alleged a breach of rule 508(2) and (5) in that Mr Beckett failed to declare a rider for BAD ALI THE WITCH in race 6 by the required time. Mr Beckett admitted the breach and indicated through his agent that he did not wish to be present at the hearing.

Mr Davidson stated that the trainer had said by way of explanation that with the Riccarton meeting being on the same day that declarations closed, he had simply forgotten to ring. A rider was finally nominated, some hour and a 1/4 late.

Mr Beckett has not been in breach of this Rule previously this season. We are aware the “standard fine” is $50. We impose a fine of $50.
