Stipendiary Steward Mr N. M. Ydgren has filed an Information against Licensed Trainer Mr J. F. Curtin alleging a breach of Rule 865(2). It was alleged that Mr Curtin failed to advise that DONEGAL UNDER FIRE (14) would be wearing half blinds in Race 7, the Bromac Lodge New Zealand Welcome Stakes.
Stipendiary Steward Mr N. M. Ydgren has filed an Information against Licensed Trainer Mr J. F. Curtin alleging a breach of Rule 865(2). It was alleged that Mr Curtin failed to advise that DONEGAL UNDER FIRE (14) would be wearing half blinds in Race 7, the Bromac Lodge New Zealand Welcome Stakes. Rule 865(2) has been amended, and as from 1 April 2009, a horse may only race in different notifiable gear when such change has been notified in the manner prescribed in the Approved Gear Regulations.
--Mr Curtin had indicated on the information that he admitted this breach of the Rules and that he did not wish to attend the hearing. The Stipendiary Stewards recommended a fine of $50-00 in this case, and we were satisfied that this was an appropriate amount. Accordingly Mr Curtin was fined the sum of $50-00.
