An information instigating a protest lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr J Muirhead on behalf of GREG BRYDON driven by Mr T Grayling placed 12th against UNATTACHED driven by Mr J Keast placed 3rd on the grounds of interference about 200m from the finishing post.  Mr Keast and trainer Mr W Fleming represented the connections of UNATTACHED.  Mr Grayling represented the connections of GREG BRYDON.

--

--

Mr Muirhead demonstrated the incident by use of the video film.  He said UNATTACHED moved inwards shortly after the entrance to the home straight causing Mr Grayling to take hold of GREG BRYDON which then broke.  Mr Grayling said there had been no contact, his horse was flat, he had taken hold of it and it galloped.  He also said another horse wouldn’t have galloped, the horse was an old dog who didn’t want to be there and he was surprised it broke.  He also said when he saw Mr Keast ‘going there’ I let him go.  He also said he didn’t want GREG BRYDON to get in the road of other horses.  Mr Keast pointed out on the video film that UNATTACHED had gone past GREG BRYDON before that horse broke.  He also pointed out from the video film that ‘the Dalgety horse’ (ANVIL TUASAMI) had moved inwards and dictated his line.

DECISIONS AND REASONS

--

The Committee was satisfied that Mr Grayling was content to allow UNATTACHED to move inwards knowing that his own horse GREG BRYDON was beaten.  The Committee was also satisfied that GREG BRYDON broke because of its own racing manners.  Having been satisfied regarding those two matters, there was no interference and the protest was dismissed.
