Following Race 6 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 871(3) when it was alleged that Ms S Spratt being the rider of STABINTHEDARK made a celebrity gesture prior to passing the winning post.
Following Race 6 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 871(3) when it was alleged that Ms S Spratt being the rider of STABINTHEDARK made a celebrity gesture prior to passing the winning post.
--Ms Spratt, who was represented by trainer Mr R Yuill , admitted the charge.
--Mr Oatham demonstrated the video films which showed that approximately 3 strides before the winning post Ms Spratt, who was riding the winner STABINTHEDARK, made a celebrity gesture by raising her right arm to mid height.
--Mr Oatham said all riders had been circulated that there would be zero tolerance under this rule so all should be aware of their obligations.
--Ms Spratt said her gesture was under the shoulder which she thought was acceptable.
--Mr Yuill had nothing to add.
--PENALTY
--The committee considered all submissions and took into account the following before imposing a penalty
--1/ Ms Spratt’s guilty plea.
--2/ The Status of the Race being Group 3
--3/ This was her 2nd offence under this rule, being also charged in April of this year.
--4/ The offence itself being at the lower end of culpability.
--Accordingly we impose a fine of $350.
