--This is an adjourned iinquiry resulting from race 10 at the Matamata Racing Club's meeting on 1.12.05.
----At the commencement of the inquiry Mr Oatham requested permission to withdraw information 6516. The Committee granted this request.
----This information number 6515 is filed pursuant to rule 871(1)(d) when the informant, Mr J Oatham, Stipendiary Steward, alleged that Mrs Thornton, rider of PENSTAR, angled her mount outwards near the 150 metre mark causing a check to BROOKLYN ridden by Mr J Waddell. Mrs Thornton admitted the charge.
----Mr Oatham demonstrated the video films to show the Committee the severity of the interference.
----PENALTY:
--Mr Oatham produced Mrs Thornton's record which showed this charge being her first for 12 months. He also mentioned that because of the adjournment Mrs Thornton was able to ride at today's premier meeting, however he believed a suspension would be the appropriate penalty.
----Mrs Thornton said in her submissions that racing was tight at the time of the incident and she was not solely to blame. She asked for a fine as penalty.
----The Committee considered all submissions and believed a suspension was appropriate. We do, however, give her credit for her good record and guilty plea. Accordingly we impose a suspension to commence after racing on 14 December and conclude after the conclusion of racing on 24 December (3 northern days).
