| -- DECISION AND REASON: --Stipendiary Steward, Mr N Goodwin, lodged an information under rule 871(1)(d) Careless Riding, in that Mr P Turner, the rider of DANCING PRINCE, in Race 1 allowed his mount to move in when not the required distance clear causing interference to the fourth placed horse VAL EWE over the final stages. --The rule was read and confirmed by Mr Turner. --Mr Turner does admit the breach of this rule. --The films were shown of Mr Turner angling inwards when not sufficiently clear, forcing Mr Ropiha to take hold of his mount and to stop riding VAL EWE out to the line. Mr Barnsley demonstrated Mr Turner attempting to straighten but then he drew the stick again and rode with vigour. --Mr Turner had nothing to say, and no questions. --Mr Goodwin stated this was Mr Turner's first charge of careless riding and asked that a term of suspension be considered. --Mr Turner made no submissions as to penalty. --Decision: --In reaching their decision, the committee have taken into account the admittance of the breach, and the good record of Mr Turner, but this was a clear breach of the rule and support a term of suspension. Mr Turner is suspended from the close or racing on Sunday 11th of September 2005, up to and including Saturday the 17th of September 2005, |
