Mr Oatham said Mr Harris only became aware he could not make the carded weights prior to Race 1 and then informed the stewards.

Mr Harris said he thought the sauna would enable him to make the weight but this failed and he found he was going to be overweight for his first 2 rides.

Mr Oatham said Mr Harris had recently been fined $200 for the same offence and as this was a premiere day of racing and it was a late notification by Mr Harris to the Stewards, he submitted a fine of $300 to $500 to be warranted.

The Committee considered all submissions and before imposing a penalty reminded Mr Harris of his obligations to connections and the inconvenience he had put them to.

Accordingly Mr Harris was fined a sum of $400.
