Following the running of Race 1, and an earlier successful protest into the event, a further protest was lodged by the Stipendiary Stewards, against horse number 1, Tina Turner (B Orange), originally placed 6th by the Judge but promoted to 5th place following a hearing. This protest was on the grounds of breaking from its gait in the run home, in breach of Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horse Regulations.

The original placings were: 1st - 8, 2nd - 12, 3rd - 3, 4th - 7, 5th - 9, 6th - 1, but subsequently amended to: 1st - 8, 2nd - 12, 3rd - 3, 4th - 9, 5th - 1, 6th - 14 .

The purpose of the enquiry was to establish if the breach occurred and, if so, to consider the question of disqualification or relegation.

Driver, Mr Orange, indicated to the stewards that he was representing the connections of Tina Turner, and he endorsed the Information that he did not contest the protest.

Explaining the circumstances, stipendiary steward Mr Ydgren referred to the video of the run home. He identified Tina Turner (B Orange) in the straight, breaking from its gait at about the 150metre mark, and continuing in a break to the finish of the race. Accordingly, he sought disqualification of the Tina Turner from its promoted position of 5th place.

The protest, which was not contested, was upheld and Tina Turner disqualified from the race. The placings are, therefore, further amended to the following:-
