An Information was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr TW Taumanu pursuant to Rule 864(2)(d) against Mr WW Thomas the Trainer of the Majorcan in that Mr Thomas failed to affix the gear correctly so as not to malfunction or to come adrift which resulted in the offside shaft coming out of its keeper.
----Mr Thomas admitted the breach of the Rule and did not wish to be present at the Hearing.
----Mr Taumanu demonstrated the incident by video film and as to penalty recommended a fine of $200.00.
----I view this charge with some concern because it can become a safety issue.
----I accordingly fined Mr Thomas the sum of $200.00.
