Mr Hanley you have admitted a breach of rule 871(1)(d), careless riding, in that you allowed your mount OUR BEECEEE to shift ground inwards when not sufficiently clear, causing a check to KIDUNOT (C Johnson) inside the concluding 100 metres.

Mr Hanley you have admitted a breach of rule 871(1)(d), careless riding, in that you allowed your mount OUR BEECEEE to shift ground inwards when not sufficiently clear, causing a check to KIDUNOT (C Johnson) inside the concluding 100 metres.
----Mr Davidson has demonstrated the incident on the videos and you have commented by way of an explanation that you thought your horse was travelling better than it was and that you thought you had room to clear Mr Johnson, but accept that you moved in when not sufficiently clear.
----Mr Ching has said that the incident is at the bottom end of the scale, and we agree with his assessment.
----Mr Hanley you have an exemplary record, with just one warning in respect of this rule, this season, but we note for a similar incident, in that it was for shifting ground in the straight. As Mr Ching observed, you are a busy rider, riding both north and south. He further said that he believed a fine was appropriate in this case. Mr Hanley you agree, and have asked us to consider that you are seldom in the room and that you consider yourself a safe rider.
----We balance against your ready admission of the breach and exemplary record, the fact that Mr Johnson's mount was clearly checked out of the race when racing near the rail. Your record entitles you to maximum credit. We impose a fine of $300 on this occasion, but also take the opportunity to remind you of your obligations under the Rules of Racing.
