Following the running of Race 3,” More F M 1400”, an information was filed by Stipendiary Steward Mr Goodwin against Apprentice Jockey Vydhir Singh alleging that he had committed a breach of Rule 871(1) (d) in that V Singh the rider of CALLA QUEEN allowed his mount to shift outward near the 200 metres when not clear of DEE DEE SMASH (K Myers) which was checked.
Following the running of Race 3,” More F M 1400”, an information was filed by Stipendiary Steward Mr Goodwin against Apprentice Jockey Vydhir Singh alleging that he had committed a breach of Rule 871(1) (d) in that V Singh the rider of CALLA QUEEN allowed his mount to shift outward near the 200 metres when not clear of DEE DEE SMASH (K Myers) which was checked. Mr Crutchley on behalf of V Singh indicated on the information he admitted this breach of the Rules and he confirmed this at the hearing.
--Mr Goodwin read rule 871(1) (d). Apprentice Jockey V Singh agreed he understood the charge and the Rule it was laid under.
--Stipendiary Steward Mr Goodwin used video coverage to show this incident, which related to V Singh shifting off the rail at the 200 metre mark of the race in the home straight, in doing so V Singh took the rightful line of DEE DEE SMASH (K Myers), who has then been checked. As Mr Singh has admitted the charge the committee has to adjudicate on the penalty only.
--Penalty submissions:
Mr Goodwin said Apprentice rider V Singh angled out when never clear, the offence is no means at the top end of the scale, but more likely it is moderate interference. But this offence is hard on the heels of a 4 day suspension from 12/4/09 to 23/4/09.and recommends a 5 day suspension.
Mr Crutchley felt the less days out of riding the better for V Singh as he needs all the practice he can get, and that 5 days may be a bit harsh. But conceded that what he had done was wrong.
Penalty:
The committee in reaching their decision on penalty have considered all the evidence and submissions and have taken into account the following:
Apprentice Jockey V Singh admitted the breach,
The level of interference to be moderate,
V Singh’s record.
Accordingly the committee impose a suspension to commence from the close of Racing Sunday 3rd May up to and including the close of Racing on Saturday 16th May.
