Following the running of Race 2 at the Oamaru Jockey Club's meeting on Sunday 30 July, Mr S C Ching, Stipendiary Steward, told Mr A Jenkins that he wanted to speak to him about the fact that Mr Jenkins had weighed in ? kg overweight.
Following the running of Race 2 at the Oamaru Jockey Club's meeting on Sunday 30 July, Mr S C Ching, Stipendiary Steward, told Mr A Jenkins that he wanted to speak to him about the fact that Mr Jenkins had weighed in ? kg overweight.
--Mr Ching, some short time later, asked for Mr Jenkins to attend at the inquiry room but it was discovered that Mr Jenkins was no where to be found. Some effort was made to find Mr Jenkins to no avail.
--As a consequence, Mr Ching opened an inquiry for the purpose of a charge pursuant to Rule 871(4) and adjourned the same until such time as Mr Jenkins could be served with the information.
--Mr Jenkins was in attendance at the Canterbury Jockey Club's meeting on Saturday 5 August 2006 and consented to the matter being heard by the Judicial Panel for the day.
--Mr Jenkins admitted the charge, and in explanation said that he had forgotten his obligations pursuant to Rule 871(4). He only had riding engagements for the first two races and wanted to get home. The charge was accordingly found proved.
--After giving due consideration to all matters, the Judicial Committee considered that a fine was an appropriate penalty. Mr Jenkins was also reminded of his obligations.
--Mr Jenkins was fined $100.
