A protest was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr N McIntyre against the fourth placing of No. 5, SO GREEN, driven by R C Beale. Mc McIntyre alleged that SO GREEN had raced out of its gait for a distance greater than 150 metres, shortly after the start.

--Mr McIntyre, assisted by Mr S Renault, demonstrated by video footage that SO GREEN raced out of its gait for a distance assessed by Mr McIntyre at approximately 140 metres, but was unable to demonstrate a longer duration as none of the available footage showed SO GREEN as it approached the winning post the first time. By this time SO GREEN had been restrained to the back of the field.
--DECISION:
--The Committee dismissed the protest as there was no evidence presented that SO GREEN had galloped in excess of 150 metres (the distance specified in the Regulation), or gained any advantage while in its break.
