Following the running of Race 1, the Fulton Hogan Maiden, Stipendiary Steward Mr N. J. Goodwin filed an information pursuant to Rule 638(1)(d) alleging Jockey S. Doyle rode carelessly.

Following the running of Race 1, the Fulton Hogan Maiden, Stipendiary Steward Mr N. J. Goodwin filed an information pursuant to Rule 638(1)(d) alleging Jockey S. Doyle rode carelessly.
--Mr Doyle had indicated on the information that he admitted this breach of this Rules, and he confirmed this at the hearing. Mr Doyle also acknowledged that he understood the Rule and the charge.
--Mr Goodwin used video coverage to show that shortly after the start of the race, Mr Doyle, the rider of “Sunny Sunday” (5), allowed his mount to shift inwards when not sufficiently clear. As a result “Petro”, ridden by Mr E. J. Dalley, was dictated inwards, and this resulted in “Whata Teser”, ridden by Mr J. K. B. Riddell, being hampered.
--Mr Doyle did not dispute any of the facts as presented.
--Penalty:
--In relation to penalty Mr Goodwin advised that Mr Doyle had not breached this Rule since 22 October 2008, and that he therefore had a very good record. A suspension of no less than 4 days was recommended.
--Mr Doyle did not seek to have the commencement of the suspension delayed, and he had no other submissions to make with regards to penalty. There was a general discussion as to where Mr Doyle would be riding in the near future.
--We adjourned to consider the matter of penalty. We were satisfied that as Mr Doyle had a good record, and as he had admitted the breach, a suspension of 4 riding days would be appropriate in this case. On resuming the hearing we advised the parties that Mr Doyle was suspended from race riding from after the completion of racing that day (22 October 2009) until after the completion of racing on 30 October 2009. This period of suspension encompassed race meetings at Wellington on 24 October 2009, Waikato or Woodville on 26 October 2009, Otaki – Maori on 29 October 2009, and Matamata on 30 October 2009.
