Following Race 1 an information was lodged against jockey P Turner alleging a breach of Rule 871(1)(d), namely Careless Riding near the 600 metres.
--Mr Turner admitted the breach.
--The only issue is penalty.
--Mr G Stewart, Assistant Stipendiary Steward, demonstrated on the videos Mr Turner's careless riding. Briefly, Mr Turner rider of No.12 MAN OF GOLD, moved inwards at approximately the 600 metre mark when not sufficiently clear of TRIPLEPAN, ridden by I Lupton, who in turn moved inwards on to TAUKIRI, ridden by K Murray, consequently both horses suffered severe interference. The horse TAUKIRI received injuries. Mr Turner accepted this interpretation.

--Mr Coles submitted that this was careless riding at the higher end of the scale. He reminded the Committee that two horses suffered serious interference. He said Mr Turner had one prior careless riding breach on 8 September 2005.
--Mr Turner said that he had made an error of judgement and had not heard any calling.
--The Committee determined that this was careless riding at the higher end of the scale.
