Following the running of race eight on the programme, an Information was lodged against junior driver, Mr JW Cox, alleging a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that he used the whip excessively in the run home, whilst driving Dream A Little.

----Mr Cox has admitted the breach and elected not to be present. I also note that he is a junior driver and has sought not to have a senior horseman represent him at the hearing. I accept that and acknowledge that he is, himself, an accomplished horseman of several seasons.
----Explaining the circumstances, stipendiary steward Mrs Williams said that Mr Cox was driving Dream A Little and he used the whip approximately 22 times in the run home. She said that he viewed the video and accepted that the whip use was excessive and he admitted the breach. He sought not to attend the hearing, attesting to such on the Information.
----In this case, Mr Cox has admitted a breach of Rule 869(2)(a) in that he used his whip excessively on Dream A Little. Following a recommendation from the stipendiary stewards and, in the absence of submissions from Mr Cox, I am satisfied that a recommended penalty of $200.00 is appropriate and in keeping with a first breach of this nature. Accordingly, Mr Cox is fined the sum of $200.00.
