| -- DECISION AND REASON: --Following Race 7 an information was filed pursuant to Rule 876(1) by Mr F Ritchie, the trainer of MAGICIAN, alleging that BOSTON BABE placed first by the judge interfered with the chances of MAGICIAN, placed second by the judge in the final straight. ----Stipendiary Steward Mr A Coles, reserved the right to charge rider Mr A Calder and notified the margin was a nose. ----Mr Ritchie demonstrated the video and claimed there was outward movement by BOSTON BABE approximately 150 metres from the finish and shouldered his horse, which, in his opinion, cost it the race. ----Mr Calder, in his evidence, claimed that his mount BOSTON BABE lost more ground through the interference that he claimed was caused by the inward movement of MAGICIAN. ----Mr Coles, when asked his opinion, said there was movement from both horses and suggested that mowing strips would help in our decision. ----The Committee considered all evidence and agreed that interference did take place, but considered that the major contribution to it was the inward motion of MAGICIAN. The protest was therefore dismissed and the Judge's placings stand. |
