DECISION & REASON:
--Information 5235 alleged a breach of Rule 871(1)(d) for careless riding by apprentice jockey L Callaway the rider of SWEET CHARIOT in that he allowed his mount to shift in when not the required distance clear and squeezing ELEMENTARY ridden by A Calder.
--The breach was admitted.
--Mr Oatham, Stipendiary Steward, demonstrated the incident on the video and pointed out the details and identified the runners.
--Mr Callaway was represented by senior jockey Gavin McKeon who pointed out that the inexperience of Mr Callaway contributed to the incident, as he possibly was not aware of a horse being on his inside.
--Mr Coles submitted that it was an error of judgement on Mr Callaway's part.
--Taking into consideration Mr Callaway's excellent riding record to date, his last breach having occurred at Avondale on 21.12.05, and the fact that the breach was admitted, the Committee finds that a suspension should be imposed which will take effect from the conclusion of racing on Saturday 11 February up to and including racing at Ellerslie on 18 February 2006 (3 riding days).
