--N Goodwin filed an information alleging a breach of Rule 638(1)(d) in that M Tanaka permitted his mount Show The Beel to shift out near the 200m when not clear of Pincess (M Vance) which was taken out into the line of Pure Delight (M Walker) which was checked.
--The rule was read and confirmed.
--Mr Neal demonstrated the video films showing Show The Beel (M Tanaka) coming around the corner out wide looking for a run, continues out dictating Pincess (M Vance) across the front legs of Pure Delight (M Walker) who receives a rather abrupt check. M Tanaka continued to ride out with the stick with no corrective action.
--Mr Tanaka agreed with and confirmed Mr Neal’s interpretation of the incident, but was worried all day as it was his first day as a fully fledged jockey.
--The charge is proven.
--Penalty
--Mr Tanaka’s last offence was on the 1st November 2009. The Stewards recommend a penalty in the range of four to five days suspension. Mr Tanaka confirmed he has declared rides on Sunday 7th February.
--Decision
In reaching their decision the committee has taken into account that Mr Tanaka admitted the breach and has a good riding record, but the interference affected two horses. The committee imposes a penalty by way of suspension to commence at the close of racing Sunday 7th February up to and including the close of racing on Saturday 13th February (4 days).
