Following the running of Race 4 Jockey J Waddell, the rider of Maisie Be provisionally placed 3rd by the judge protested against the provisional winner of the race Miss Krisdel ridden by Tennielle Bishop.

--

The provisional placings were 1 Miss Krisdel

--

2 Andraste

--

3 Maisie Be

--

The margins were one length short head short head.

--

Jockey J Waddell using the available films pointed out the alleged incident and stated that he had to stop riding and take hold approximately 4--5 strides short of the post. He was adamant that the incident cost him a chance of running 2nd.He believed the incident cost him, as the margin between 2nd and 3rd was a short head.

--

Mr J Georgetti, trainer of Miss Krisdel, viewed the films and informed the committee that he was unsure if Jockey Waddell did stop riding. He was also unsure just how close to the winning post the incident occurred.

--

Miss Bishop, jockey of Miss Krisdel told the committee that she got excited when she knew she could win.

--

Mr P Reid, trainer of Maisie Be told the committee he felt the incident cost his horse 2nd placing.

--

Stipendiary steward A Ray, under the rules of racing made comment on the incident. He believed that while interference did take place and horses were tightened he was unsure how close to the winning post the horses were when the alleged interference occurred. Stipendiary steward Ray believed there was an element of doubt at the exact point when the interference occurred.

--

--

DECISION AND REASON

--

This is not a frivolous protest, Interference did take place. Both films confirmed that.

--

Miss Bishop your actions, in allowing your mount to move inwards caused tightening to the horse on your inside.

--

Jockey Waddell was adamant in his submissions that the incident prevented him from finishing in a higher placing and that he had to stop riding and take hold of his mount 4---5 strides short of the winning post.

--

The committee has carefully viewed both available films and believe there is an element of doubt at the point the alleged interference occurred.

--

We were of the opinion that doubt did exist over whether Mr Waddell’s mount was prevented from finishing in a higher placing and therefore the protest was dismissed and placings allowed to stand.
