An information lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr J Muirhead against LYNWOOD ASTRID, driven by Mr T Herlihy, placed 5th by the Judge, on the grounds of breaking from its gait free of interference and galloping for the last 150 metres of the race. Trainer M Wallis endorsed the information "I do not wish to contest the protest against 5th placing". She did not wish to be present at the hearing. Mr Muirhead demonstrated the incident by use of the video film. LYNWOOD ASTRID broke from its gait free of interference when leading and galloped for the last 150 metres of the race.
--In circumstances such as this, the Breaking Horses Regulation requires the offending horse to be either relegated or disqualified. In accordance with the Regulation and usual practice, I disqualified LYNWOOD ASTRID, the placings then being :
--1st CRACKER
--2nd LORD JAKE
--3rd MISTER MAHARG
--4th STRUTH WHATA PARTY
--5th SIMON SAYSGO
--6th JINTY
