Following race one an information was filed pursuant to Rule 858(4). Mr Coles alleged that Mr Old, trainer of WINNING GENES, omitted the lead bag when he presented the horse for race one.

Following race one an information was filed pursuant to Rule 858(4). Mr Coles alleged that Mr Old, trainer of WINNING GENES, omitted the lead bag when he presented the horse for race one.
--Mr Old admitted the breach of this rule.
--Mr Coles explained to the Committee that prior to the race at inspection time it was discovered that the lead bag was missing on WINNING GENES. He said it was found in the stall where the horse had been saddled. Mr Coles said the horse was favourite and the repercussions could have been serious if not discovered.
--Mr Old said his father actually found the lead bag was left off after inspection, but admitted he had made the mistake of not adding the lead bag.
--PENALTY SUBMISSIONS:
Mr Coles said there were two previous breaches of this rule, both attracting a $500 fine which he believed was appropriate in this case as well.
PENALTY:
The Committee considered all submissions and evidence and reiterated to Mr Old the potential seriousness of such a breach, and his obligations. Accordingly the Committee impose a fine of $500.
