--N Goodwin filed an information alleging a breach of Rule 330(1)(a), which was amended to read Rule 330(3)(a), in that J Parkes broke a riding engagement for Rayzn Dust in Race 6.
--This is a deferred charge from Wellington, being held at the Wanganui Racecourse on the 4th February 2010.
Stipendiary Steward N Goodwin then presented evidence that Trainer M Eales had informed Stewards that J Parkes had left the course prior to Race 6.

Stipendiary Steward N Goodwin then presented evidence that Trainer M Eales had informed Stewards that J Parkes had left the course prior to Race 6.
Mr Parkes had sought permission after Race 1 to leave the course, assuming he had fulfilled his engagements, and was given the all clear to leave. Unbeknown to the Stewards and Mr Parkes, Mr Parkes had a ride in race 6. Mr Eales, the trainer of Rayzn Dust, had discussed tactics the previous week with Mr Parkes.
--Mr Parkes stated it was just a mistake. When questioned whether he had just forgotten, Mr Parkes recollection was that he only went to Wellington for one ride (Race 1) and hadn’t confirmed at noms and did not think he was riding it, although having talked tactics with Mr Eales.
--The charge is proven.
--Penalty/Decision
The Stewards requested a monetary penalty in line with a similar offence on the day in question of $350.00. Mr Parkes had no comment. In reaching their decision the committee have taken into account that Mr Parkes did admit the breach and that he had been given permission to leave the course.
The committee impose a fine of $300.
