Decision: -- Following Race 2 an information was filed by Stipendiary Steward Mr J Oatham, pursuant to Rule 871 (1) (d). He alleged that Mrs Allpress permitted her mount HARJEAN to shift outwards near the 500 metres when not sufficiently clear of IL BACARO ridden by Mr C Grylls who was checked. Following Race 2 an information was filed by Stipendiary Steward Mr J Oatham, pursuant to Rule 871 (1) (d). He alleged that Mrs Allpress permitted her mount HARJEAN to shift outwards near the 500 metres when not sufficiently clear of IL BACARO ridden by Mr C Grylls who was checked. Mrs Allpress did not admit the breach initially but changed her plea to guilty after reviewing the video film. Stipendiary Steward Mr Williamson demonstrated the video films and showed where at the 600 metre mark Mrs Allpress riding HARJEAN, who was racing directly behind MISSING LINK, angle her mount out and into the line of IL BACARO (C Grylls) when only 3/4 to 1 length clear of that runner. PENALTY SUBMISSIONS: Mr Oatham said Mrs Allpress had an excellent record with only one charge in the last twelve months. He submitted a suspension was appropriate but the offence was at the lower to mid range. Mrs Allpress said she had commitments through until 10th December 2008. She said she straightened her mount as soon as she heard Mr Grylls call. PENALTY: The committee considered all submissions and before imposing a fair penalty took into account the following: 1, Mrs Allpress excellent riding record. 2. Her guilty plea. 3. Her degree of carelessness and the effect on IL BACARO who lost 1-1 1/2 lengths when he was checked. Accordingly we impose a suspension for Mrs Allpress to serve, starting after the conclusion of racing on the 10th December 2008 and concluding after racing on the 14th December 2008 being 4 racing days.
