Following Race 5 an information was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr J Oatham pursuant to Rule 530 (2) (b) when it was alleged that Mr S Wilson made excessive use of the whip on the horse SKANDEL.

--Mr Wilson admitted the charge.
--Stipendiary Steward Mr A Coles demonstrated the video. He showed where, soon after entering the final straight Mr Wilson could be seen to be using his whip. He continually wielded it for at least 20 times without a pause.
--Mr Wilson had nothing to say.

PENALTY
--As Mr Wilson admitted the charge we are required to adjudicate on penalty only.
--Stipendiary Steward Mr Oatham said that Mr Wilson had a clear record as far as this rule is concerned. He asked for a suspension for an offence he regarded as in the middle range.
--Mr Wilson gave his engagements up to and including 6 September.
--After considering all matters the committee suspends Mr Wilson from the conclusion of racing on 6 September till the completion of racing on 21 September 2008 (4 jumps days).
