Mr Yusof pleaded guilty and was represented by trainer Mr L Noble.
--Mr Coles demonstrated the video films which clearly showed Revoke, ridden by Mr Yusof, move in from a position 7 wide and make contact with Comte de Jeu (C Lammas) which in turn was forced inwards and bump Shi Kin Dance (J Collett). Mr Coles said Mr Yusof was always riding forward and he corrected far too late. He believed the check to Mr Lammas cost him ¾ to 1 length.
--Mr Yusof said he tried to straighten but wanted to be competitive. He admitted he was inexperienced.
--Mr Noble submitted it was Mr Yusof’s inexperience that he allowed his mount to move so far.
--PENALTY SUBMISSIONS
--Mr J Oatham produced Mr Yusof’s record which showed 2 charges in March of this year. He said Mr Yusof did too little too late and the resultant check to Mr Lammas was a severe one. He submitted this was in the mid – high range and warranted 5 – 6 days.
--Mt Yusof said he had commitments next Saturday 4/4/09
--PENALTY
--The Committee considered all submissions and in particular took into account Mr Yusof’s record, his guilty plea and his level of carelessness. The Committee pointed out to Mr Yusof his record was of concern and in this particular case he made the mistake of continuing to ride forward when he was aware the horse was on an inward movement.
--Normally we believe the offence would warrant 7 days but because of Mr Yusof’s guilty plea and his inexperience we reduce the penalty to 6 days.
--Accordingly we suspend Mr Yusof from after racing on 4/4/09 up to and including the 16/4/09 (6 days)
