Following race 7 an information was lodged by Stipendiary Steward Mr A Coles, pursuant to Rule 508 (2) (5) when it was alleged that Mr C Wood failed to declare a rider for SAILOR’S KAP by the required time.

Mr C Wood did not admit the breach and was present for the hearing.

Mr A Coles informed the committee that Mr C Wood was contacted by the Racing Bureau at 10.39 am on the 13th March as they had not received a declared rider for SAILOR’S KAP. The required time was 10.00 am on the 13th of March.

Mr C Wood confirmed that Mr A Coles statement were the correct facts.
--In his evidence he stated that his horse was a late nomination for the race, and expected jockey M Hills would ride SAILOR’S KAP.

Mr C Wood contacted M Hills at 9.50 am 13th March to find he had already taken a ride in the event. Mr Wood was travelling to Wanganui races and lost mobile phone contact to find a replacement rider.

The committee carefully considered all the evidence and are clearly satisfied Mr C Wood failed to comply with the rule due to being inefficient.

Accordingly we impose a $ 50 fine in this instance.
