Following Race 3 an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 520 (4) (C). The Informant Mr R Sanders alleged that Mr M Cameron, rider of JOHNNY D’CASH, in Race 3, failed to make the declared weight by being 1kg over weight.

Following Race 3 an Information was filed pursuant to Rule 520 (4) (C). The Informant Mr R Sanders alleged that Mr M Cameron, rider of JOHNNY D’CASH, in Race 3, failed to make the declared weight by being 1kg over weight.
--Mr Cameron admitted the breach.
--Mr Sanders said this was Mr Cameron’s 4th overweight charge in the last 12 months which was of concern. However he said Mr Cameron did come to the stewards as soon as he was aware he would have trouble making the weight. Also in his favour was that he pleaded guilty immediately.
--Mr Sanders submitted a fine of not less than $200 would be appropriate.
--Mr Cameron said that he rode a lot for the Trainer Mr P Duncan so was keen to make the weight of 53 ½ kilos and was confident of doing so. However he did not ride at Te Teko yesterday and even with a sauna this morning failed to make the weight by 1 kilo.
--PENALTY
The Committee considered all submissions and told Mr Cameron of their concern at his record under this rule and the implications to connections of horses.
Accordingly we impose a fine of $250.00
