--In race 6, the Markwood Lodge 2100, a request for a ruling under Rule 865A was filed by Mr G McKeon in that MURKIT was denied a fair start.
----Mr Oatham, Stipendiary Steward, demonstrated on the video the slow opening of gate 4 and the loss of some ground. At the finish MURKIT was approximately 5 lengths from the third placed horse TOOGOODTOBETRUE.
----Mr McKeon said his instructions were to run mid field and he made up ground to be not far away from the third placed horse and requested that his horse be declared a late scratching.
----The decision of the Judicial Panel was that the mechanical action of the gate impeded the start of MURKIT (G McKeon) by 2 lengths and that at the finish after making ground during the race MURKIT was 5 lengths from the third placed horse TOOGOODTOBETRUE. The Panel ruled that the chances of MURKIT were not materially prejudiced and would not be declared a late scratching.
