An information instigating a protest filed by Stipendiary Steward Mr J. Muirhead against LIFEOFTHEPARTY driven by Mr M. Purdon placed 5th by the Judge on the grounds of galloping for in excess of 50m in the last 200m of the race.
An information instigating a protest filed by Stipendiary Steward Mr J. Muirhead against LIFEOFTHEPARTY driven by Mr M. Purdon placed 5th by the Judge on the grounds of galloping for in excess of 50m in the last 200m of the race. Mr M. Purdon trainer and driver representing the connections of the horse endorsed the information ‘I do not contest protest against 5th placing’. Mr Muirhead demonstrated the incident by use of the video film. LIFEOFTHEPARTY broke free of interference with about 115m to run and galloped for approximately 70m. The breaking horse regulations in those circumstances require the horse to be either relegated or disqualified. The normal practice is to disqualify the horse. However, in this case that would have meant LIFEOFTHEPARTY being placed behind the horse DUCHENNE which had galloped during the race for a considerable distance. In the circumstances LIFEOFTHEPARTY was relegated to 6th place, the placings then being:
1st – IMA GOLD DIGGER
2nd – DREAM MACHINE
3rd – POCARO
4th – ME AN KEL
5th – RONDO
6th - LIFEOFTHEPARTY
