Race Date:

Race Number:
Race 9

Decision:

Rule 871 (1) (d) : Stipendiary Steward Mr Neal lodged an information alleging Ms Allpress near the 200 metres permitted her mount TASTE OF PARADISE to shift out resulting in TROBERSHA ridden by Apprentice S Doyle having to be checked.

--

Ms Allpress admitted the breach.

--

Mr Neal showed the head and side on films of Ms Allpress turn her mount  TASTE OF PARADISE out into the line of TROBERSHA.  TASTE OF PARADISE was travelling well and TROBERSHA was not, but her obligation was to maintain a straight line.

--

Ms Allpress stated she had intended to go on the inside of TROBERSHA but that horse then rolled in and TASTE OF PARADISE then without being pushed went out, and perhaps over reacted.
The committee find the charge proven.

--

Penalty
Mr Neal, in giving Ms Allpress’s penalty record of 2 suspensions in the previous 12 months, commented that as a very busy “national” rider this was a very good record. But on this occasion Ms Allpress had not maintained a straight line causing S Doyle to check his mount and recommended a penalty of suspension in the vicinity of 4 days as appropriate for a midrange offence.
Ms Allpress asked the committee to consider 3 or 4 day suspension.

--

Decision
The committee considered all submissions before imposing a penalty and took into account;
1  Ms Allpress did admit the breach.
2  As a national rider with many engagements, we concur Ms Allpress has a very good riding record.
3  The level of carelessness at mid range.
The committee imposed a term of suspension from the close of racing on Sunday 15th March up to and including Friday 20th March 2009.
