Mr Williamson told the committee that Ms Ranui had used an unregistered person to lead SUNSET TAN around before the 2nd race. He said that it was only a week since Ms Ranui had been fined $100 for using an unregistered track rider so this time he was asking for a fine in the vicinity of $200.

Ms Ranui said that she was a permit to train license holder, with only 6 horses in her stable and that she felt that a $200 fine would not only be harsh but be difficult for her to pay.

DECISION:
--The committee, while having some sympathy for Ms Ranui’s situation, is concerned that Ms Ranui should be facing similar charges on consecutive weeks. We therefore accept Mr Williamson’s submissions and impose a fine of $200.
