--An information instigating a protest was lodged by Stipendiary Steward, Mr T Taumanu, against IWI ALEX, driven by Mr P Ferguson, placed 4th by the judge, on the grounds of breaking from its gait free of interference and galloping for the last 100 metres of the race.
--Mr Robert Reid represented the connections of IWI ALEX. He did not contest the protest.
--Mr Taumanu demonstrated the incident by use of the video film. IWI ALEX broke, free of interference and galloped for the last 100 metres of the race.
--In circumstances such as this, the Breaking Horses Regulation requires the offending horse to be relegated or disqualified. In accordance with the regulation and usual practice, I disqualify IWI ALEX, the placings then being:
